Due to scheduling conflicts and Restore Oregon’s desire to present a high-quality tour-going experience, we are shifting the date of our annual Mid Century Modern Tour to Saturday, September 23, 2017.
As previously announced, this year’s tour will feature works by Northwest Modernist architect William Fletcher, founding partner of the Portland architectural firm Fletcher Farr Ayotte, now known as FFA Architecture + Interiors, Inc.
As a companion event to the tour, Troy Ainsworth, Principal of FFA Architecture + Interiors, Inc., will present a separately-ticketed lecture, providing an in-depth look at the life and work of William Fletcher, as well as his impact on the Northwest Modernism Movement.
While celebrating mid-century architecture is certainly one focus of our tour, our ultimate goal is to draw attention to the need for thoughtful preservation of Modern architecture. While the homes featured on our annual tours may have been lovingly maintained or restored, there are many more mid-century buildings whose historic significance remains unrecognized. We hope that our tour will help encourage responsible stewardship of these buildings.
All proceeds from our rescheduled 2017 Mid Century Modern Tour will benefit our statewide education and advocacy programs.
