Katelyn Van Genderen | Preservation Programs Director

Katelyn strongly believes that historic preservation is about place, and planning for it generates new opportunities that allow community members to establish or, often, reestablish the sense of place they possess about where they work, live, and thrive. Katelyn has an M.A. in History with dual emphasis in Historic Preservation and Museum Studies, and has worked as a historian, museum technician and preservation consultant for institutions such as the Center of Southwest Studies in Durango, Northern Michigan University, and for the National Park Service. She has also worked as an historic preservation specialist with the South Dakota State Historic Preservation Office, and as a historic preservation project leader for Yellowstone National Park. Katelyn enjoys finding solutions to the vital preservation issues that face Oregon, and working with the dedicated partners and supporters of Restore Oregon who help foster the historic places that make our communities livable and sustainable.
